MESSAGE FROM OUR PATRON
Professor David de Kretser AC, Governor of Victoria

As Patron of Building Melbourne, I am pleased to support a unique and dynamic organisation which is about continuing to improve our city’s built environment.

Melbourne is one of the world’s great cities, and like all great cities, it faces great challenges. There is no doubt that Melbourne can become an even more sustainable city. To achieve this, coordinated actions across government, universities, business and the community are essential. This poses challenges, as organisations are often more accustomed to working as silos, rather than across boundaries.

The objectives of Building Melbourne to bring together experts and leaders in our community, and to enhance leadership, share knowledge and work collaboratively on practical outcomes to assist Melbourne’s transition, are to be commended.

Continued leadership is needed to ensure that the necessary research, strategy and actions are undertaken. Innovation must underpin this action to drive real change in our community within the urgent time frames that face us.

I am proud to be the Patron of Building Melbourne, and I would like to congratulate its members and partners for their participation. I look forward to hearing more about its activities in the future.
